One of my favorite places to visit in Japan is Yakushima! A must-see for nature enthusiasts, this untamed and enigmatic island in Kyushu's Kagoshima Prefecture is well-known for its verdant forests, which served as the inspiration for Princess Mononoke from Studio Ghibli. Hiking and taking in the azaleas and cherry blossoms are best done in the spring (March to May). You can reach Yakushima from different ways like there are direct flights, direct trains as well as direct buses services available for Yakushima.

AL and ANA are the only airline with scheduled passenger flights from Yakushima (KUM).

BY Air : Kagoshima (KOJ) Airport, located 162.9 kilometers from Yakushima, is the closest airport. Miyazaki (KMI) is another airport in the area (191.9 km). All foreign tourists must adhere to the terms of their visas and enter Japan with a valid passport for the duration of their stay. At the moment, a visa is not needed for travel to Japan for up to 90 days. A direct flight from Osaka or Fukuoka to Yakushima is the only method to get around Kagoshima.
