Located in the Baramulla district of the northern Kashmir Valley of the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, within the broader disputed Kashmir region, Gulmarg (meaning ""meadow of flowers"" in Kashmiri) is a town, hill station, tourist attraction, skiing destination, and notified area committee. It is situated 49 km (30 mi) from Srinagar and 31 km (19 mi) from Baramulla. The settlement is located inside the limits of Gulmarg Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Himalayas, in the famous Pir Panjal Range of India.
