Situated in the Konkan region on India's southwest coast, Goa is geographically isolated from the Deccan highlands by the Western Ghats.It is bordered to the north by Maharashtra, to the east and south by Karnataka, and to the west by the Arabian Sea. It is the fourth-smallest state in terms of people and the smallest in terms of land in India. With a GDP per capita that is two and a half times higher than the national average, Goa is the most developed tiny state in India and ranks second overall.Vasco da Gama is the state's largest city, while Panaji serves as its capital.Christmas, Easter, Carnival, Diwali, Shigmo, Chavoth, Samvatsar Padvo, Dasara, and others are notable local celebrations. Dekhnni, Fugdi, Corridinho, Mando, Dulpod, and Fado are examples of traditional Goan art forms. In Goa, rice and fish curry are staple foods. Goan cuisine is well-known for its wide range of intricately prepared fish dishes. Along with chili peppers, spices, and vinegar, coconut and coconut oil are frequently used in Goan cookery, giving the food a distinctive flavor.
