Penang, Malaysia

The Malaysian state of Penang is situated near the Strait of Malacca on Peninsular Malaysia's northwest coast. It is divided into two parts: Seberang Perai on the Malay Peninsula and Penang Island, which is home to George Town, the capital. The Penang Bridge and the Second Penang Bridge serve as the physical links between these two portions. The state is bordered to the south by Perak and to the north and east by Kedah.Compared to the federal government of Malaysia, the Penang state government has fewer authority while having its own legislative and executive branch. The federal government of Penang is in charge of the educational system. Although English and Malay are required courses in all schools, vernacular schools are also allowed to teach in Mandarin or Tamil.
