Trongsa is a historically significant, idyllic town in central Bhutan, perched on a steep ridge overlooking the Mangde Chhu river gorge. Meaning "new village" in Dzongkha, it served as the ancestral seat of the Wangchuck dynasty and is the traditional gateway connecting eastern and western Bhutan.

Perched on a steep mountain ridge overlooking the Mangdechhu river gorges, it acts as a strategic gateway connecting eastern and western Bhutan.  Historically, the crown prince of Bhutan must serve as the Penlop (Governor) of Trongsa before ascending the throne. Both the first and second kings ruled the country from here before the establishment of the absolute monarchy in 1907.
You can reach Trongsa from different ways like there are direct flights, direct trains as well as direct buses services available for Trongsa.
By Air : Trongsa does not have its own commercial airport. To travel there by air, you must fly to Paro International Airport (PBH), Bhutan’s only international hub, and then complete the rest of the journey by road. Ema Datshi,Rice forms the main body of most Bhutanese meals,Pork, beef and chicken are the meats that are eaten most often. Vegetables commonly eaten include Spinach, pumpkins, turnips, radishes, tomatoes, river weed, onions and green beans.
BY Taxi : Traveling to or from Trongsa, Bhutan by taxi is the most convenient way to navigate the winding mountainous roads. Taxis operate out of major hubs like Thimphu, Paro, and Bumthang, offering point-to-point transfers and full-day charters.
